PHOENIX — After being selected to a second term as president of the state Senate, Warren Peterson, of Gilbert, announced the chairmanships and vice chairmanships of senate committees of the 57th Legislature, which starts Jan. 13.
David Gowan, Sierra Vista, who represents Graham, Greenlee and Cochise counties, has been named to one leadership position, chairing the Military and Border Committee. Vice chair is Janae Shamp, Surprise, which is also her only leadership assignment.

House committee chairmanships have not yet been announced; however, Rep. Steve Montenegro, Goodyear, has been named speaker, Michael Carbone, Buckeye, as majority leader, and Julie Willoughby, Chandler, as majority whip.
