GRAHAM COUNTY — A passerby helped stop a house fire before it did extensive damage.
The fire occurred Sunday, Oct. 8, at a home on East Court Street.
A man was driving by when he saw flames on the top of a porch. He exited his vehicle, found a connected water hose and started dousing the fire and stopping its spread until the Safford Fire Department arrived.
Graham County Sheriff’s deputies talked with the homeowner, who said she believed the fire started when she was barbecuing under the porch and the flames grew too high.
No one was injured in the incident.
