Gift certificate program going countywide

THATCHER — During an appearance on Voice of the Valley on Monday, Graham County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Vance Bryce said a local program supporting small businesses is going into wide release.

“The certificate program that Safford did — that reimbursed business $3 for every $10 gift certificate — that’s going to go countywide,” Bryce said. “So businesses countywide can apply today to be part of the new . . . Invest in the Gila Valley Program.”

The gift certificates will be available for purchase by the public starting Thursday. A certificate worth $10 can be purchased for $6, with the businesses being reimbursed $3 for each certificate sold. With sell-out, it’s expected that local businesses will see $181,000 additional revenue.

In this latest round of certificates, the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties contributed $9,500, the Town of Thatcher $4,000, the Town of Pima $2,000.

United Way previous contributed $17,000, the city of Safford $20,000 and the Safford Downtown Association $2,000.
