GCSO pulls in another $38K for traffic OT

SAFFORD — During Tuesday’s meeting, the Graham County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved acceptance of two grants that will help the Sheriff’s Office enforce the rules of the road.

“This money is being given to us through a grant. It’s kind of hard to turn that kind of stuff down to help us with enforcement in that area,” Sheriff PJ Allred said.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety issued GCSO a $24,543 grant for overtime to reduce the number of DUIs and impaired drivers on the road, and a grant for $13,000 to pay for overtime when conducting enforcement cracking down on speeders.

Supervisor Paul David thanked the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for making the funds available to counties.

“Please let (GOHS Director Alberto) Gutier know thank you very much. We know he has more money; see if he can shake a little more loose,” David said.
