GRAHAM COUNTY — It’s another busy weekend in the Gila Valley.
Things start Friday with the two-day Pickleball Tournament at Thatcher High School tennis courts, to support Families Fighting Cancer Together.
Men’s and women’s doubles will take place Friday, with mixed doubles on Saturday. Play starts Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 6 a.m. and cost is $25 per person.
Saturday, at 6 a.m., will see the start of the Gila Hank Sprint Triathlon at Eastern Arizona College.
The event features a 75-yard swim in the EA pool, a 6-mile bike ride around campus and a 1-mile run. Cost is $35 per person and entry can be made by clicking here.
From 9 a.m. to noon, VFW Post 10385 in Thatcher will offer free coffee and donuts to all veterans.
From 9-11 a.m., the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition and the Sunrise Project will host the inaugural Recovery Walk.
The walk will take place on the track around the Pima Junior High School football field in support of those on a journey of sobriety.
Families Fighting Cancer Together will host its annual Family Fun Night fund-raiser Saturday, from 5-9 p.m., at the Thatcher Recreation Complex on Reay Lane at 8th Street.
There will be bounce houses, train rides and games for children; food vendors; a mini-golf course; live entertainment and more. There will also be a bake sale and silent raffle.
Cost is $1 per ticket or $20 for a wristband for unlimited games and rides.
Also starting at 5 p.m. is the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s annual banquet will take place at the Manor 415 Event Center in Safford, one of 25 banquets the foundation is hosting that night across the nation. Click here to purchase tickets.

From 6-8 p.m., also at the Thatcher Recreation Complex, Families Fighting Cancer Together will host a cornhole tournament. Cost is $20 per person.
At 7 p.m., Eastern Arizona College Dance will present Swing Under the Stars, an interactive show at the outdoor EAmphitheater. Admission is free.
