PHOENIX — The DreamBuilder program has landed Freeport-McMoRan on the shortlist for an award involving the world’s largest companies.

Through its DreamBuilder program, Freeport is a candidate for the World 50 Group’s Community Impact Award. The award is presented to a company that “has had an impact on communities by supporting education or development programs, health care, infrastructure, or other areas of need.”

The awards will be presented March 27 in Miami, Fla.

The DreamBuilder program by Freeport and the Thunderbird School of Global Managment, is a 25-30 hour course spanning 10 weeks. It serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, primarily women but also open to men, to actualize their dreams and visions, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to successfully navigate the business landscape.

The Small Business Development Center at Eastern Arizona College is currently running three DreamBuilder programs — one each in Gila, Graham and Greenlee counties — with graduations set for April.

World 50 Group is described as an “invite-only community for CEOs, boards, C-suite officers and executives from the Global 2000.”

The Global 2000 ranks the largest companies in the world on four metrics — sales, profits, assets and market value. According to Forbes, in 2023, the Global 2000 accounted for $50.8 trillion in sales, profits of $4.4 trillion, assets worth $231 trillion and a combined market value of $74 trillion.
