PHOENIX — For the second year in a row, Freeport-McMoRan is asking people’s opinions about the Morenci and Safford mining operations.

Freeport has launched the Local Voices Survey online, to allow residents “to directly share their experiences, views and priorities with the company,” the survey states.

The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete, and asks basic demographic questions, then about which operation the respondent is most familiar.

Questions include thoughts on how Freeport protects the environment, how it communicates with the public, and how its grants have impacted the area, among others.

Participation can be anonymous, or those who give their contact information can be entered into a drawing for one of three $250 gift cards. And participants can help direct a total of $2,500 to local nonprofit organizations.
