Frances Edith Hill Gould

Frances Edith Hill Gould, a resident of Haven Home of Globe, passed away February 5, 2017. Frances was born May 3, 1923 in Duncan, AZ to Charles and Rilda Hill.

She was raised in Duncan and attended Duncan schools. She married Durwood L. Gould Sr. in Globe on August 21, 1939. They made their home in Miami, AZ until they retired back to Duncan in 1971.

Frances served in a Civil Defense in Globe. Frances then came back home and went to work at Duncan school as Cafeteria Manager. She was well known for her homemade meals that she and her team produced. She was a member of the Eastern Star and President of the Clifton Order of the Rebeccas and also a member of the Miami Emblem Club. She was honored by the Arizona Grand National as an Arizona Pioneer and her family history was recorded in the Pioneers Families History in 2005. She was instrumental in establishing the Senior Home and Meals for Seniors in Duncan.

Together they had 5 children, Frances E. (Roger) Dapper of California (deceased 1994), Loretta M. (Frank) Puzzi of Miami, Doris C. (Charles) Flagg of Delaware (deceased 2003), Taffy D. (James) Couts of Auburn, CA and Durwood L. (Shelley) Gould Jr. of Florida.

Frances was the oldest daughter of Charles and Rilda. She is survived by her brother Harry Hill of Duncan. Her other siblings preceded her in death: Ella Mae Weaver, Rilda J. Johnston, Charles (Dick) Hill, Bill Hill and Martha May.

Frances was blessed with grandchildren: Rebecca Dapper, Dee (Brian) Hanson, Timothy (Rosena) Dapper, Frank Puzzi, Jr., Ron (Ann) Puzzi, Carrie Sue Flagg Linda M. (Denis) Kelly, Lori (Dave Gordon), Thomas (Marianne) Couts, Jeffery (Catherine C.) Couts, Travis C. Gould, 18 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held for Frances on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 3 p.m. at McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel and graveside services will be held on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Sheldon Cemetery.
