The Graham County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by Fort Grant prison guards after video surveillance captured two people throwing something over the fence. An inmate was seen retrieving the item. According to the report, the call came in at 4:46 am. Prison staff went to the inmate’s housing area and found them distributing the contents, which included some blue pills and a crystal-like substance.
According to the police report it’s believed that the suspects parked their vehicle near the Bonita school and hiked up to the prison to throw the contraband over the fence. Video captured of the vehicle was not clear enough to determine the make and model. It appeared that the vehicle headlights were an old “yellow” halogen style.
It took a deputy about 40 minutes to arrive on scene due to the distance. He patrolled the area but did not locate any suspicious vehicles.
