Flu in Graham County continues to grow

PHOENIX — The number of flu cases in Graham County more than doubled to close out 2021.

Arizona Department of Health Services reports 20 cases were recorded the week of Dec. 19 and another 25 the week of Dec. 26, bringing Graham County’s total this flu season thus far to 78.

That’s almost eight times as many as the entire 2020-21 flu season.

Influenza A accounts for 72 of the cases, while three are Influenza B and three are unknown at this time.

Greenlee County has seen 44 cases of flu so far this season, a case of Influenza B and 43 cases of Influenza A.

Statewide, there have been 2,852 cases of flu so far this season, about 139 percent more than of all of last season’s total of 1,196.
