February cases down 91 percent from January

SAFFORD — The trend of few new daily cases continues in February as Graham County Health Department reported just nine new cases Thursday.

That brings the total number of new cases in February thus far to 77, a 91-percent drop from January at the same time.

Of Thursday’s new cases, eight were in the 85546 Zip Code and one was in the 85543 Zip Code.

The young adult age group continues to dominate the new cases, with nearly half — 49 percent — involving people 20 to 44 years old. Three other age groups were within percentage points of each other, with 45 to 54 year olds accounting for 17 percent of the new cases, those 65 and older accounting for 14 percent and those under 20 accounting for 12 percent.

Only the 55 to 64 age group is in single digits, at 8 percent of the new cases.

Since the start of the pandemic, Graham County has experienced 5,194 cases and 68 deaths.

Greenlee County

Greenlee County Health Department reported two new cases Wednesday evening.

That brings the total number of new cases in February thus far to 16 and 542 since the start of the pandemic.
