SAFFORD — Parents and children have multiple options for fun this weekend.

VFW Post 10385 in Thatcher is hosting a children’s carnival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It’s $5 per child and you get tickets,” said Jeff Morris with the VFW. “You can take the tickets to each game and play each game. There’s some good prizes; there’s a scooter at one of the games that we’re giving away, and then there’s bicycles, one male and one female bicycle we’re giving away.”

In addition to the games, there will be a train; hot dogs, hamburgers and burritos; and, in the evening, a free country music concert and dance featuring Sonja Watkins.

Also Saturday, from noon to 2 p.m., CHAP Ministries is staging a Community Fun Day at the Graham County Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The event is free and every child who attends will be given a ticket for the 10 drawings of six bicycles and four large Lego sets.

There will also be games — such as bingo, cornhole, balloon toss, ball toss and horseshoes — where children can win play money that can be exchanged for gifts at the redemption table; a magician and face painting.

CHAP Ministries will also be serving hot dogs, chips, soda and bottled water.
