Erma Ray Lunt, 94, passed away August 26, 2016, in Sierra Vista, AZ, where she had been living with her daughter.
Erma, born January 5, 1922, in Chandler, AZ, grew up on a farm in the Mesa-Chandler area. After graduating from Arizona State Teachers College she moved to Safford and taught music in the Safford schools. In 1944 she married Irl Lunt and moved to Duncan.
Erma taught school in Duncan for a few years, then dedicated her time to being a wife and mother. She gave piano lessons to many children throughout the years. She also thoroughly enjoying singing with a ladies ensemble in the Duncan area. Erma and Irl served in the Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 10 years.
Erma is preceded in death by: her husband, Irl. She is survived by: her children, Dennis (Sandi), Larry (Doris), Randall (Joan), Carolyn (Glade) Smith, Dale (Jennifer), Marsha (Steve) Haymore, Gerald (Lucia), Elaine (Kyle) Baldwin, and Jana (James) Long. She has 57 grandchildren and 170 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Erma will be conducted Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the Duncan L.D.S. Stake Center by Bishop Travis Hatch of the Virden Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Virden Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Friday evening, September 2, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Saturday morning, September 3, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., in the Duncan L.D.S. Stake Center Relief Society Room.
