PIMA — Terry Earp appears to be doing a fine job heading up the Pima Volunteer Fire Department.
Department members voted for him to retain the position of chief for 2025, which was ratified unanimously by the Town Council during its most recent meeting, Dec. 10.
Earp then immediately asked for Town Council approval to spend $33,198 for a new set of extraction tools.
“Most crashes out there (on Highway 70), two cars end up a quarter-mile apart and you can’t have one set of tools,” Earp said. “We’re looking at replacing one set that we have that is really outdated and no one will even work on anymore.”
The council unanimously approved the purchase of a new spreader, ram and cutter, along with batteries and chargers.
Earp also informed the council the Fire Department recently acquired two 20-foot containers for use in training, and a new 4-inch LDH supply line, which will run water from hydrants to the trucks when fighting a fire.
