THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College’s Fine Arts Division proudly presents Once Upon a Mattress from March 30 – April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
In this musical version of The Princess and the Pea, Princess Winnifred is an ungainly, brash girl competing for the hand of Prince Dauntless. Queen Aggravain – Prince Dauntless’ domineering mother – has declared her son must marry a “true” princess before anyone else in the kingdom can marry.
Opening in 1959, Once Upon a Mattress played 216 performances Off-Broadway at the Phoenix Theatre, followed by 244 performances on Broadway at the Alvin, Winter Garden, Cort, and St. James theatres.
