EAC invites community to sing Handel’s “Messiah”

THATCHER, Ariz.—Eastern Arizona College’s Music Department is pleased to announce rehearsals for its 82nd annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” which is scheduled for Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

“We want to invite the entire community to take part of this tradition and sing with us this holiday season,” said Gideon Burrows, EAC director of choirs and conductor of the event.

Rehearsals are as follows:

Tuesday, November 6, from 7-9 p.m. in the EAC Choir Room

Tuesday, November 13, from 7-9 p.m. in the EAC Choir Room

Tuesday, November 20, from 7-9 p.m. in the EAC Choir Room

Tuesday, November 27, from 7-9 p.m. in the EAC Choir Room

Tuesday, December 4, from 7-9 p.m. in the EAC Choir Room

Thursday, December 6, from 7-9 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium (rehearsal with orchestra)

Saturday, December 8, from 3-6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium (full technical rehearsal)

Sunday, December 7, at 7 p.m. (7:30 p.m. performance)

Some singers may find it easier to rehearse with the EAC A Cappella Choir Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Noon through the month of November.

The performance will combine the community singers with students from EAC A Cappella Choir and Men’s Chorus. Singers who have their own Messiah score are asked to please bring it to rehearsals.
