EAC 2023 Spring Sing & Community Jazz Concert

Community Jazz Concert

Eastern Arizona College’s Community Jazz Ensemble will take the stage for its annual Spring Community Jazz Concert on Monday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., in the EAC Activities Center – Lee Little Theater. Admission to the concert is free.

Members of the ensemble have enrolled in a class taught by Dr. Gary Sorensen and include Phil McBride, Richard Keith, David Olson, Paul Roberts, Joe Sharp, Marlin Whetten, Ethan McBride, Kei Sundt, Kyle Casey, Kurt Adams, Kay Ferrin, David Griffith, Amy Henager, Dillon Casey, Peter Rethy, Karen Preston, Ken Raines, and Chase Moore.

The audience will enjoy jazz standards along with newer selections from Count Basie, Stan Kenton, the Ides of March, Chicago, Michael Bublé, and Linda Ronstadt.

Spring Sing

Eastern Arizona College is proud to present Spring Sing April 26, and 28, at 7:30 p.m., and April 29, at 1 and 7:30 p.m. All shows will be presented in the Fine Arts Auditorium. There will be four different performances, each with a unique theme and style, to feature diverse aspects of the music program.

Wednesday’s performance, titled “Gloria,” features the community Symphonic Choir, Gila Valley Jazz Singers, A Cappella Choir, and Resonus. There will also be a special guest organist to showcase the College’s new organ. Dr. Andrew Lloyd, a music professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, will perform several organ selections.

Friday’s performance, titled “Luminous Night,” will be a more traditional choral show featuring the GilaSoul Singers, Resonus, and A Cappella Choir.

Saturday’s performances will include a 1 p.m. matinee, and a 7:30 p.m. evening performance. The matinee will feature Encore and the Gila Valley Children’s Chorale.

The final show on Saturday evening, titled “Choral Showcase,” features combined EAC choirs.

There will be something for everyone this Spring Sing, as EAC’s choirs share a wide variety of music and singing styles.
