E.B. “Beaver” Edwards, 93, of Thatcher, passed away July 2, 2015. Beaver was born February 7, 1922 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to John W. & Hazel Byrd Edwards.
Beaver graduated from Chouteau High School in Oklahoma. In 1941 he married the love of his life, Geneva Middleton and then in 1943 they moved to Morenci, Arizona. Beaver was drafted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps until his release in 1946. The family was blessed with the births of their two daughters Sue & Patti and their son Lynn. Beaver & Geneva were blessed with 46 years of marriage.
He was a master mechanic for Phelps Dodge and was an active member of the Baptist Church. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks in Clifton, the Greenlee County Country Club and the American Legion. He loved golf and fishing.
Beaver is survived by his daughters Sue (Chip) May, Patti Burk, grandchildren; Shari, Donna, Jill, Kristi, Kim, Jeffrey and Phyllis, and brother, John (Frances) Edwards, 15 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geneva, son Lynn, son-in-law Merrill Burk, and great-great granddaughter, Saylah Anne.
A Memorial service for Beaver will be held on August 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alpine Cemetery in Alpine, Arizona.
