Duncan falls to Baboquivari in 1A Quarterfinals

PRESCOTT VALLEY – There seemed to be a lid on the basket in the first quarter for the Duncan Wildkats in this morning’s 1A Quarterfinal matchup with the Baboquivari Warriors. The Warriors led 13-0 at the end of the quarter.

The ‘Kats played even with the Warriors in the 2nd quarter and were paced by Conlan Jensen’s 8 points but still trailed 28-14 at the break.

Duncan made a much more concentrated effort to use their size advantage in the 3rd quarter and outscored Baboquivari 11-8 but trailed 36-25 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The 4th quarter was a back and forth battle but in the end the 1st quarter ended up being the difference in the game as the Warriors move into Friday’s Semifinal with a 52-38 win.

Jensen led the Wildkats with 13 points. He was was the only Duncan player in double digits. Baboquivari Freshman Kota Benson led all scorers with 20.
