Douglas Edwards Hanson

Douglas Edwards Hanson, a resident of Duncan, Arizona, passed away January 9, 2024, in his home with his wife, Rose Hanson, by his side.

Doug was born on February 14, 1931, in Tucson, Arizona. During the initial 18 years of his life, Doug resided in Houston, Texas. Doug enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for four years during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he became a father to two daughters, Linda and Jan. After completing his service, Doug, along with his family, returned to Houston, Texas. In due course, he met his now wife, Rosa Lee Hanson in 1959 and married in 1960. Together with Rose, they raised three rowdy boys – Doug Hanson JR., Charles Hanson, and Bill Hanson.

In 1970, Doug and his family made the move to Duncan, Arizona to start in the mining business in the Steeple Rock Mining District. He started out as an assayer and later operated different mines in the district.

In 2003, Doug owned and operated his own Appliance Repair Company called, D. E. Hanson Appliances. He continued his repair work up until a few months ago when his health started declining. Doug’s business will still be in operation through his youngest son.

Doug Hanson’s legacy lives on through his dear children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Doug will be conducted Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Duncan by Pastor Steve Martin. Concluding services, with military honors, will follow in the Duncan Cemetery.
