THATCHER — Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation announced the date for its annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the Gila Valley.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, Eastern Arizona College’s Hoopes Activity Center will be the site of the Dinner-Dance fund-raiser.
Dinner will be a three-course buffet, feature beef or chicken fajitas, while entertainment will come courtesy of area mariachi bands and folklorico dancers.
“We’re going to have intermissions for raffles and a little bit of fun,” said Hispanic Heritage Secretary/Treasurer Lupe Munoz. “And, of course, we’re going to present Family of the Year, Male Teacher of the Year and Female Teacher of the year for our surroundings here.”
Cost is $65 per person.
On Nov. 2, a classic car show to benefit the Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage scholarship fund will take place on the south campus of EAC.
All proceeds from the events and raffles are used to fund scholarships to Eastern Arizona College, distributed through the EAC Foundation.
“Up to date, we’ve created approximately $60,000 in scholarship money, and we have an endowment with the (EAC) Foundation of approximately $30,000,” Munoz said.
