GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were able to successful effect the peaceful surrender of a man with a weapon who had locked himself in his house.
At about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the home on North San Juan Mine Road, following a report of a domestic disturbance.
A woman said she and her husband argued when she suggested splitting up, causing him to overturn tables and toss a Styrofoam cup filled with soda at her. When she stepped outside to call law enforcement, he locked the door and retrieved a pistol from a safe inside the home.
She also said her husband is bi-polar and she wasn’t sure if he had taken his medication.
Deputies were able to talk the man into exiting the home and surrendering without further incident. He was taken into custody and booked into Graham County Jail on charges of domestic violence/disorderly conduct and domestic violence/assault. The handgun and ammunition were booked into evidence.
