Dennis A. Flatt of Safford, Arizona passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 80 on September 9, 2022. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
Dennis was born on June 6, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Lynn & Opal Flatt. Dennis graduated from Safford High School in 1960 and continued his education at Eastern Arizona College, obtaining an Associates in Business in 1962. On December 22; of that same year, Dennis married the love of his life, Leberta Lutz. They lovingly raised three children Denise, Mike, & Dana. Dennis and Leberta were lifetime companions and devoted soulmates for 60 years.
Shortly after obtaining his degree, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served our country until 1964. Upon his return, he began a 25-year career with the state of Arizona as a DPS officer. He believed that this was his way to help, serve, and protect his community. While his professional accomplishments were important, he was a family man and took pride in his wife, children, and grandchildren, loving them deeply. When Dennis wasn’t on duty, he enjoyed hunting, riding his bike long distances, and creating ever-lasting memories with his family and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn & Opal Flatt.
With his passing, Dennis leaves his family and community eternally grateful for his years of service. He is survived by his loving wife: Leberta Lutz-Flatt, his children: Denise (Bodie) Hunt, Mike (Kristi) Flatt, Dana (Tom) Guilliams, his siblings: Gene (Joyce) Flatt, Clair (Carol) Flatt, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his pets, and numerous family members, beloved co-workers, and friends that shared cherished memories with him throughout his years.
Dennis was a fine gentleman gleaming with bravery, kindness, and loyalty. His strong-willed spirit and joyful demeanor will be missed dearly.
