COVID-19 numbers continue to decline in Graham County

SAFFORD — The number of new coronavirus cases in the Gila Valley continues to dwindle, with just 12 over the past seven days.

According to data provided by Graham County Health Department, there have been 168 cases through April 26; however, 139 of those cases were added to Graham County’s total due to the cases erroneously being assigned to Gila County in previous months.

Taking out those adjusted cases, Graham County is averaging just 1.15 new cases of COVID-19 per day this month.

The Arizona Department of Health Services COVID-19 dashboard shows Graham County with the third fewest number of cases since the start of the pandemic. The two least populated counties have the fewest — Greenlee County at 570 and La Paz County at 2,454 — followed by Graham County at 5,543.

There have been 14,845 doses of vaccine administered to Graham County residents, which is 23.1 percent of the population.

Graham County continues to offer free vaccinations and is now joined by Copper Mountain Clinic, which is also offering free vaccinations

“The weather is beautiful, let’s get it done,” said Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center’s Shaylee Richards. “18 years and older, all you’ve got to do is call 928-348-1600 or visit www.mtgraham.org or, heck, show up at the Copper Mountain Clinic and they’ll get you taken care of.”

Copper Mountain Clinic will administer vaccines Tuesdays through Fridays through April 30.
