Couple cited for Domestic Violence, one goes to jail

Deputies were called to a residence on East Highway 70 in Safford Friday evening regarding a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived, they found a man in the house with a swollen eye. He told authorities that he and his girlfriend had been drinking out at the duck ponds at the fairgrounds. He said that when they came home, they got into an argument regarding his girlfriend’s daughter and grandkids. The man said that he told her that he did not want them coming to the house anymore, which caused her to become upset, and hit him in the eye.

She then allegedly broke two windows in the house before storming off. She returned to the residence sometime later and claimed that the man had spit in her face before she hit him and broke the windows.

The woman was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail. Based on the woman’s testimony that the man had spit in her face, he was cited and released for Domestic Violence.
