Clyde Welbaum Jr

Clyde Welbaum Jr., of Safford, Arizona, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at his home with his family at his bedside. Clyde was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on March 29, 1943.

Clyde and his family moved to Tucson in 1976, and then to Safford in 1993 after he retired from teaching. He received his master’s degree from St. Francis University in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and a degree in Spanish from the University of Columbia in Bogota, Columbia. Clyde taught American History, Spanish and Social Studies in Ft. Wayne, Columbia, Tucson, and Bowie AZ, and was principal of Colonial Christian School in Ft. Wayne and Palo Verde Christian School in Tucson. He was highly respected and loved by his all his students.

Clyde and his wife, Joyce, had 53 wonderful years of marriage together and raised their two children Scott and Kathryn. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed camping, collecting stamps and coins, reading and free weight workouts. He loved his family above all and was always a true gentleman.

Clyde fought the good fight through many years and is now at peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Clyde was preceded in death by: his parents, Clyde Sr. and Dorothy; and by two grandsons, KJ and Anthony.

He is survived by: his wife, Joyce; son, Scott (Maria); daughter, Kathryn (Joshua); grandchildren, Katrina, Kirstie, Jessica, Kyle and Jenny; and great-grandchildren, Conner, Dominic and Kacie.

Private family services will be conducted at a later date.
