Cleo M. Sanchez, 65 of Safford (Morenci), entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 25, 2016, at her residence. To a lot of us, she was known as Chubby.
Cleo was born on November 12, 1950, in Morenci, to Arturo M. Sanchez and Lupe Sanchez. She was born with Down syndrome.
Mike and Tambré Kenehan of Safford, became Cleo’s foster care-givers and her second family.
Cleo attended the GCRC, of Safford and Clifton, and the Blake Foundation in Safford. She was a member of the Beneficio Propio Club and the Woodmen of the World Society.
Cleo is survived by: her brother, Frank Sanchez of Tucson; her sister, Stella Fernandez (Tony) of Clifton; her brother, Victor Sanchez (Christie) of Thatcher; her sister, Olga Lopez (Bob) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her uncle, Armando M. Sanchez (Jenny) of California; Mike and Tambré Kenehan and family of Safford; and many others.
Cleo was preceded in death by: her parents, Arturo M. Sanchez and Lupe Sanchez; her grandmother, Vicenta M. Sanchez; her aunt, Espie M. Sanchez; and her nephew, Tony Fernandez, Jr.
A Celebration of Cleo’s Life will be conducted Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley.”
