Claudette Martineau Taylor

Claudette Martineau Taylor, a longtime resident of the Gila Valley, entered into eternal life Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2024, at her home in Safford, at the age of 86, with her husband, Terrell, holding her hand by her side.

Claudette was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was very active with numerous callings and serving others. She was involved in the Scouting program for many decades and helped many young earn their Eagle Scout. For her many years of service and her leadership with Boy Scouts of America, Claudette was awarded the rank of Silver Beaver which the highest award a woman can receive in the Boy Scouts of America. She loved teaching children at Dorothy Stinson Elementary School in Safford for many years. Claudette also reveled in family history, puzzles, reading and being of service to many in the community.

Claudette leaves behind: her husband, Terrell, of Safford; their two sons, Robert Terrell Taylor and Kent Taylor (Takayo), of Japan; her sister, Terry Lee McCaffery, of California; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Claudette were conducted Thursday morning, July 11, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the Thatcher Cemetery by LaMont Whetten.

The family suggests donations be made to the Eastern Arizona College Scholarship Foundation or to plant a tree in Claudette’s memory.
