Candidate packages for Safford, Thatcher, Pima councils now available

GRAHAM COUNTY — Candidate packets are now available for the three municipal elections this year in Graham County.

In Safford, the three seats up for election are those currently held by Steve McGaughey, Arnold Lopez and Luke Arbizo.

In Thatcher, voters will decide on the seats currently held by Jenny Howard, Mike McEuen and Ryan Allen.

There are two seats up for election in Pima, those currently held by Brian Paull and Teresa Bailey.

Candidates will also be running for offices related to the court system, including Judge of the Superior Court, Clerk of the Court and Justice of the Peace.

Candidate packages are available at Safford City Hall, Thatcher and Pima Town Halls and the Graham County General Services Building. All nomination forms must be returned no later than March 23.

The Primary Election will take place July 21. Any candidate who receives 50 percent plus one of the votes in his or her race will be automatically elected.

If all seats are not filled during the primary, the top two vote-getters for each unfilled seat will face off in the General Election, Nov. 3. During the General Election, whoever receives the most votes will win.

Deadline to register to vote in the July 21 Primary Election is June 22.
