A deputy was sent to a residence south of Safford Monday to follow up on 911 calls that were being made. A child reportedly made two 911 calls in the morning. When the 911 operator answered the first call, the child told them to mind their own business and hung up. When dispatch called back, the child answered the call. When asked if everything was okay, the child disconnected. The child called again and said they were fine. The operator asked to speak with a parent, but the child said she was fine and disconnected.
A deputy went to the address that plotted from the call. When nobody answered the door, the deputy called the number. The deputy identified himself but the child kept hanging up on him. The deputy looked up vehicle records from a car that was parked in front and called the owner of the vehicle. The man identified the number that kept calling 911 as a tablet his seven-year-old daughter was using. He told the deputy that his daughter was home alone. He told the deputy that he could see his daughter on a home camera and that she was okay. The man explained that the tablet would call 911 if a series of buttons were pushed. The deputy suggested he talk to his daughter about calling 911 and left without further involvement.
