SAFFORD — The Gila Valley Arts Council announced the first public performance of the 2024-25 arts season will feature two performers offering different approaches to music.
Yihan Chen will offer a solo performance on the pipa, followed by another solo performance by Paul Galbraith on the eight-string classical guitar.
The performances will take place Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., inside the Tregaskes Recital Hall at the David M. Player Center for the Arts.
The theme of their presentation is East Meets West, and. GVAC expects this to be one of its most unique and unusual recitals of the season.
Born in Wenzhou, China, Yihan Chen started learning Pipa when she was eight years old. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress and other leading venues.
Paul Galbraith has toured the United States annually, and performed throughout the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the European Union, as well as in China, South America, South Korea, Russia, Norway, Iceland, Australia and Canada.
Paul Galbraith and Yihan Chen both appear by arrangement with Lisa Sapinkopf Artists.
Tickets are on sale at Richards Music, by calling 928-428-2442, online at www.saffordcenterforthearts.com or at the door. Adult ticket prices are $15 and $20, all reserved seating; while tickets for children and students are $5.
