SAFFORD — Southeastern Arizona Community Unique Services celebrated its new offices with a Graham County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting Wednesday.
The new offices, on U.S. Highway 70, were made available to SEACUS by Sorenson Financial, which moved to Thatcher after remodeling the old Toni’s Kitchen building.
Speakers at the ribbon-cutting talked about the need for services to help Gila Valley senior residents live with dignity, as well how donations through the Arizona Tax Credit system help both SEACUS and the donors.
Seniors, as well as family members of those served by SEACUS, talked about the healthy meals and activities that SEACUS provides in both Graham and Greenlee counties, and SEACUS staff talked about the impact that Congress not renewing the Older Americans Act will have on SEACUS’ ability to provide services going forward.
SEACUS operates the Senior Centers in Safford, Clifton and Duncan.
The 2023 Impact Report — the most recent report available — shows SEACUS served 30,450 home-delivered meals, provided 33,713 hours of attendant care, 168 hours of housekeeping, 1,098 hours of respite and distributed 68,900 pounds of food.
in addition to the ribbon-cutting, the celebration included a check presentation by United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties.
United Way granted SEACUS $160,000 for aging services support.
