THATCHER — The eighth annual Cash for College Scholarship Awareness Night will take place Monday at Eastern Arizona College’s Thatcher Campus, courtesy of the college and the Arizona Community Foundation.

The free event is an opportunity for students and their families in Graham and Greenlee counties to learn more about funding opportunities for two- and four-year colleges, as well as trade schools and certificate programs.

“There’s so many different types of sources of aid. When we’re working with students, we always tell them to apply for multiple sources, because one is probably not enough,” said Erik Lehmann, Admissions counselor at EAC. “Everybody knows about FAFSA (Federal Application for Federal Student Aid) and the Pell Grants, but not everybody gets those. Usually, you’ve got to do them, and you probably need some help doing them, so we have workshops.”

In addition to speaking with representatives from various schools and local scholarship providers, attendees can also apply for more than 150 different scholarships, totaling more than $2 million, with one application through the Arizona Community Foundation online portal, at Apply Online – Arizona Community Foundation (azfoundation.org).

Cash for College will take place Monday, Jan. 29, from 5-7 p.m., at Eastern Arizona College’s Academics Program Building.
