Boy drowns at pool party

A six-year-old boy drown at a swimming party on June 14, 2025. According to the Graham County Sheriff’s office, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 PM. Deputies were first on the scene and found someone administering CPR to the boy. Lifeline EMS arrived and began performing life-saving measures to attempt to revive the boy while officers continued doing chest compressions. The child was transported to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 8:14 PM.

According to the report, most of the people at the event had left the pond area and were in a different area, eating food, when a man discovered the boy in the water and jumped in to pull him out. The man told authorities that he had gone back to the pond to retrieve some flotation devices he had brought to the party when he noticed the boy face down in the water.

The boy’s mother was reportedly in the water about 12 feet away but hadn’t noticed the boy prior to the man finding him face down. A witness said that he remembered the boy wearing floaties earlier, but he was no longer wearing them when he was found.

Investigators at the scene said they did not observe any signs of foul play and didn’t see any signs of injury while CPR was being performed. The boy’s father told authorities that there were not any known health issues other than an autism diagnosis.

The boy’s body was transported to Tucson for an autopsy. According the Sheriff’s report, the incident appeared to be an accident.
