BLM seeks public comment on vegetation plan

SAFFORD — With a number of invasive species outcompeting and overtaking native plants in the area, the Safford Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management is asking for the public’s comments on plans to address the issue.

Comments on the Vegetation Management Plan Environmental Assessment will be accepted through July 18.

BLM officials said the current plan, which is used to protect and improve wildlife habitat, watershed and rangeland health, is using outdated science, hence the need for the update.

Once the comment period is closed and comments are reviewed by the authorized officer, any changes will be implemented through the Safford Field Office Vegetation Management Plan Decision of Record.

The NEPA number is DOI-BLM-AZ-G010-2016-0052-EA and to comment, go to EplanningUi (blm.gov)
