SAFFORD — The City of Safford is taking the first steps in development of another park.

On Wednesday, the city opened the bidding for construction of a parking lot and sidewalk, as well as extension of 20th Street for Owens Park.

Owens Park is located at the intersection of 14th Avenue, 20th Street and El Paso Boulevard. As proposed by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee in 2022, the park would have a splash pad, playground equipment and a zip line.

The deadline to submit a bid is March 20, and city staff anticipates the City Council taking action in April.
