Betty Hamman or “Butch” as she was affectionately known by many, a resident of Safford, entered into rest Sunday morning, March 28, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Butch was 87.
Betty was a long-time resident of Safford Arizona where she taught school for 33 years along with her husband Hugh “Bub” Hamman.
Betty was quite athletic and loved sports and the outdoors. She had zest for life and experienced many great and unusual achievements throughout her life. In college she played sports and was a cheerleader at Arizona State University. She was the youngest player on the PBSW Rambler’s fastpitch softball team and was inducted into the softball hall of fame. Butch was an outstanding coach, team player, friend, spouse, mother, and grandmother.
Betty is survived by: her two children, Lora Haralson and Deanna Crisler; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by: her husband, Hugh H. “Bub” Hamman; her mother and father, Lora and George Farley; and her brother and sister, Dick Farley and Jaquie Burns.
A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be conducted Monday morning, April 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley.” Concluding services will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
