Baby Concert at Safford Library Tuesday, Jazzy Ash performing April 3

SAFFORD — The Safford City-Graham County Library and the Gila Valley Arts Council are teaming for something special for the youngest members of the community.

Musikaravan will perform a special free concert for children 0- to 4-years-old in the programming room at the Safford Library.

“It’s a gentle way to experience the music, where movement and squirliness — all the things that come with kids age 0-5 — is completely welcome and encouraged,” said Elizabeth Henley, the Library’s Early Literacy coordinator.

The program for babies and their parents/caregivers will run 30 to 45 minutes and is part of the DeliriumMusicum project. According to its website, the program is “curated to be accessible to families with very young children” and “introduce the elements of instrumental music — pitch rhythm, melody, harmony — with a casual and entertaining approach.”

The baby concert will take place Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m., and is free to attend.

The Safford Library will also hold another free concert for preschoolers Thursday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the David M. Player Center for the Arts.

Jazzy Ash will bring New Orleans-style jazz to the Gila Valley, as part of the Early Literacy Concert Series. Seating is first come-first served and is available to children 0-5 and caregivers.

The Safford Library’s Early Literacy Concert Series was an Emerging Strategies honoree at the Library of Congress’ Literacy Awards in 2024.
