AZDHS announces voluntary medical marijuana recall

PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Health Services announced Wednesday seven medical marijuana growers and dispensaries have initiated a voluntary recall of specific cannabis products due to contamination of Salmonella or Aspergillus.

One of those growers is the Pharm, which is located in northern Cochise County and is operated by the principals of Bayacan, the company that was recently approved for a re-zoning in order to purchase two greenhouse sites from NatureSweet in Bonita for another medical-grade cannabis grow.

The Pharm’s product is called Chemistry #1 and has a date of March 24, 2021. The full list of growers and products can be found at ADHS – PIO – News Release – 062321 (azdhs.gov).

Symptoms from Salmonella usually start within six hours, six days after infection and last four to seven days. Symptoms include: diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. Some may also have nausea, vomiting or a headache.

Aspergillus can cause allergic reactions or infection, usually in people already sick with something else. Symptoms range from asthma or cold like symptoms, to fever and chest pain among many others.
