GRAHAM COUNTY — All the people involved in a single-vehicle accident told law enforcement they couldn’t remember how the crash occurred.
At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were called out to Frye Mesa Road, about 4.5 miles west of Reay Lane. When they arrived, they found two females suffering neck and back pain, with one saying she could not walk. The women were transported via ambulance to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center.
Deputies spoke with the driver and a male passenger who appeared to a have minor injury to the bridge of his nose, and both said all they could remember was not seeing the approach to a curve, causing the vehicle to go off the road and crash. Both said they could not remember if the vehicle rolled.
The women, interviewed later at the hospital, also said they could not remember what happened, although one said she believes she was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver submitted to field sobriety tests and showed no signs of impairment. However, initial investigation indicates none of the riders in the ATV were wearing seatbelts.
The operator was cited for reckless driving.
