GREENLEE COUNTY — The Day of the Dead will celebrated in style in Greenlee County this weekend.
The Morenci Community Center will host a special Dias de los Muertos evening with swimming, a movie, music and crafts. The family-friendly event takes place Friday, from 5-8 p.m.
Friday and Saturday the 11th annual Colors of Copper Art Show will take place at the Art Depot at the Clifton Train Station.
The show displays multiple types of art, including painting, sculpture, photography and more, as well as ofrendas and poetry; and requires all artists to incorporate copper in some fashion into the submitted piece. This year’s theme is Dias de los Muertos.
The Colors of Copper is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
On Saturday, from 8 p.m. to midnight, the Clifton Social Club will host a Dias de los Muertos bailer, with a DJ and menudo.
In Graham County, Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corp. is offering the third annual Dias de los Muertos Car Show, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the south campus of Eastern Arizona College.
Awards will be presented in multiple categories, with Best of Show awarded to overall, people’s choice, motorcycle and bicycle.
