Anthony Paul McGregor, known as “Tony,” age 72 of Eden, entered into rest early Monday morning, June 27, 2016, at the North Mountain Medical and Rehab Center in Phoenix.
Tony was born in Fort Defiance, Arizona, on June 18, 1944, to Samuel McGregor and Evelyn Blasioli. He attended school in Ft. Defiance graduating in 1962.
In early October of 1965, he met the love of his life, Mildred Colvin. He proposed to her on Thursday, May 17, 1966, this happened to be the night before her high school graduation. They were married July 23, 1966.
Tony love to hunt and fish. Favorite times would be camping trips, holidays, birthdays and just being around family. He would never miss any of his kids, grandkids or great-grandkids birthdays. They all knew what they were going to get. He gave them a nice card and the amount in the card was how old they were turning.
Tony fought many fires as a volunteer firefighter. He was a mechanic for many, many years. As well as helping friends with some farming.
This past year, on March 16, 2015, he lost his wife of 48 years to a stroke and on June 23, he lost a great-grandson. Tony fought a hard battle with cancer and fought it all the way till the end.
Tony is survived by: his daughters, Shawntel Ballard (John) and Pernecia Norton; sons, James McGregor and Rob McGregor (April); his twelve grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Edith Lorton (Kenny) and Louise McGregor; sister-in-laws, Pearl Cauthen, Madge Moffett and Harriet Colvin; and his brother-in-law, Tom Colvin.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mildred Colvin; and great-grandson, Julian John-Robert Sanchez; and his parents, Samuel and Evelyn McGregor.
Funeral services for Tony will be conducted Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 12:00 noon, at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley,” by Rob McGregor. Concluding services will follow in the Eden Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Friday evening, July 8, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home.
