BENSON — The Arizona Community Foundation announced Tuesday that Selena Valencia Salazar as the new regional philanthropic adviser for southeastern Arizona.
She will work closely with nonprofits and community leaders to strengthen philanthropy in rural southeastern Arizona, advance ACF’s strategic initiatives, and build upon ACF’s strong foundation while strategically expanding its reach to further strengthen philanthropy and impact in the region.
Salazar brings a wealth of experience in fund-raising, nonprofit engagement, education, and community building. Before joining ACF, she served as associate director of development, Foundation relations for the University of Arizona Foundation, where she helped secure transformative philanthropic support. She also held diverse positions at the University of Arizona, strengthening connections between the university and its broad network of stakeholders.
“Selena’s deep ties to the region, combined with her passion for philanthropy and community engagement, make her an invaluable addition to ACF and the communities we serve. We are excited for the leadership, vision, and enthusiasm she brings to this role,” said Colleen Iuliucci, regional director for Southeast Arizona.
Salazar holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and Creative Writing from the University of Arizona, as well as a Master of Science in Digital Audience Strategy from Arizona State University. Her interdisciplinary background focused on marketing, project management, and events further adds to her ability to support local nonprofits and help donors achieve their charitable goals.
Salazar looks forward to collaborating with partners across the region to support local initiatives, enhance nonprofit capacity, and steward the generosity of donors dedicated to making a difference in southeastern Arizona. She is eager to engage with the community and contribute to ACF’s mission of mobilizing philanthropy for a better Arizona.
