SAFFORD — The Safford High School Marching Band has bragging rights for the next year.

The Bulldogs’ performance of a portion of their 2026 show “Stay With Me” convinced the judges to give Safford the F. Phil Stuermer Cup for best high school band in the Fair Parade.

It was Safford’s fourth win in the last five years and their 10th win since 2012.

Before the start of the parade, Safford, Thatcher, Pima and Eastern Arizona bands joined together on the steps of the Graham County Courthouse to play a few numbers for the crowd.

“It’s so amazing to have the opportunity to compete with the other bands, but at the same time I’m so happy that I’m able to collaborate with other bands as well, said Safford Drum Major Amelia David. “Playing with my buddies and having fun.”

The cup was presented to Safford High School by Selina Valenzuela with Gov. Katie Hobbs Office and Tara Cosentino with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, the presenting sponsor of this year’s Fair Parade.
