Safford Police Respond to 29 Incidents, Including DUI, Domestic Violence and Juvenile Complaint

The Safford Police Department handled 29 reported incidents during the 24-hour period from 6 a.m. Oct. 5 to 6 a.m. Oct. 6, according to the department’s Law Incident Media Summary Report.

Among the more notable calls was a domestic violence report shortly after 8:24 a.m. Oct. 5. The report indicates that a caller said his nephew had started hitting him and was later yelling at him near his vehicle.

Police also responded to an animal problem involving a dog that had reportedly been tied up in a backyard and did not belong to the residents.

A trespassing/property-damage complaint was reported later in the morning after a red go-cart reportedly struck a fence.

During the afternoon, officers investigated a private-property accident involving a white Toyota SUV and a gray Hyundai. No injuries were reported. Officers also assisted the Arizona Department of Public Safety after a trooper encountered a vehicle that had failed to yield.

A juvenile problem was reported shortly after 8 p.m. The report states that a juvenile was involved in a verbal and physical relationship with an unidentified 19-year-old.

Traffic enforcement accounted for a significant portion of the department’s activity, with numerous traffic stops recorded throughout the afternoon and evening.

Shortly after midnight Oct. 6, an incident initially recorded as a traffic stop was changed to a DUI investigation. Another traffic stop was reported around 3:18 a.m.
