SAFFORD — A few spots have opened up in this weekend’s Youth Dove Shooting Clinic and Hunt.
Put on by Arizona Game and Fish in partnership with Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen Club, youths experience an evening of instruction at Safford’s Dry Lake Park.
“We teach all the youth members out there — with shotguns and shells provided — we teach them safe shooting and safe hunting practices during the seminar,” said Tim Linden with the Sportsmen Club.
“Then the next day, we meet for a day in the field. Basically, the youth members — each one will have a mentor — we get out there between 5-6 a.m. Game and Fish identify a pond or tank that we’re going to meet at, and go out there and, basically, teach them how to shoot dove.”
Instruction will take place Friday, Sept. 4, from 5-9 p.m., and the hunt on Saturday, Sept. 5.
