Graham County Sheriff’s Office Reports 32 Incidents
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office responded to 32 incidents between Aug. 24 and the morning of Aug. 25, according to the latest incident report. Calls included traffic accidents, a DUI investigation, domestic violence, threats, suspicious activity, a reported sex offense and a series of other public-safety calls.
One of the more significant incidents occurred Aug. 24 on San Jose Road near U.S. Highway 70, where deputies conducted a traffic stop that was later classified as a DUI investigation. A blood draw was conducted at approximately 12:40 p.m. The report does not provide additional details about an arrest or charges.
Deputies also investigated a reported possible molestation involving a 2-year-old child. The incident was reported Aug. 24 on Chastain Lane and was classified as a sex offense. The report provides no further details regarding the allegation or its disposition.
A domestic-violence call was reported at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center after a patient told staff she had been assaulted by her boyfriend earlier in the day. The call was initially classified as an assault before being changed to domestic violence.
Earlier in the day, deputies investigated a report of two people attempting to enter a residence on Thorn Lane. The homeowner told deputies the incident had been captured on a Ring camera.
Deputies also responded to several traffic-related incidents. A reported sideswipe involving a gravel-hauling truck near First Avenue and Discovery Park Boulevard was ultimately classified as a motor-vehicle accident with no injuries. Another two-vehicle crash at Robinson Ranch Road and Bryce Canyon Road involved a Dodge Ram and Ford F-250; no injuries were reported.
Other calls included a report of a suspicious suitcase and a dog near the Gila River, a sparking power line with active flames near Armory Road and U.S. 191, and a civil standby requested by a person leaving a spouse who wanted an officer present while retrieving belongings.
The report also documents a 911 hang-up involving a child who repeatedly called 911 from what appeared to be a school bus. Dispatchers tracked the caller’s changing location through the Safford area for more than 20 minutes before losing the location. The caller reportedly refused to provide a name.
The report covers calls received beginning Aug. 24 and continuing into the morning of Aug. 25.
