SAFFORD — Two of the Gila Valley’s favorite shops are re-opening.

Copper and Cotton Lifestyle Co. and Garrett’s Sweet Shop are open to the public once again, starting Friday at 10 a.m.

The shops moved from their locations on the 500 block of Safford’s Main Street, to the buildings that formerly housed The Venue on Main and the Vignette, next to the historic Safford Theatre.

The Copper and Cotton and Garrett’s Sweet Shop have spent the last three weeks moving the contents of both shops to the new locations and getting everything set up.

Kylin Harrington, manager of the shops, said the team felt relief of finally being able to re-open.

“The store just brings us joy,” Harrington said. “We love doing it, we love being here, we love the community (and) we love being able to be a part of something that makes other people feel good.”

Copper and Cotton’s old location won’t sit vacant for long. The Sleepy Dragon has announced plans to open soon in the building on the northeast corner of Main Street and 6th Avenue.

The Sleepy Dragon will serve gamers, selling board games, role-playing games, collectible card games, video games, dice, miniatures, and other gaming accessories. Plus there will be space for playing games and tournaments.

An opening date for the Sleepy Dragon has not yet been announced, and there has been no announcement yet on what business will occupy the previous location of Garrett’s Sweet Shop.
