68% would rather invest in people than AI, consumer survey finds

Nearly everyone has tried AI – in fact, a new national consumer survey by Howdy.com discovered 96% have tried it. What’s the verdict?

According to the survey, mixed:

  • 86% use AI currently, nearly all who use it find it useful
  • 51% say it’s overhyped; 54% are unwilling to pay to use it
  • 1 in 3 trust AI above social media; 1 in 5 trust it above government agencies
  • 77% say AI makes people lazy; 57% say it reduces critical thinking

Americans primarily use AI to search for information and compare products; 42% consult it for health or mental health advice. Given the option between investing in AI or manpower, 68% are betting on people over machines.
