Public input invited for proposed enhancements at Fairgrounds

SAFFORD — Graham County wants to know what would be the best elements of a new “action park.”

The public is invited to take a look at proposals for new amenities at Graham County Fairgrounds, as well as offer input, during a concept showing at the Graham County General Services Building on Monday, June 1, from 5-7 p.m.

Proposed is draining the lower pond and replacing it with a track for BMX bicycles. In addition, in the area below the upper pond, the county is looking at installing new sidewalks and grassy areas, and replacing the old playground equipment with new equipment, including climbing walls, bridges, water elements and other new play patterns.

The public will be able to tell Fairgrounds officials what amenities they like, as well as propose others for the new park area.

The proposed action park is one of many planned and ongoing improvements to the Fairgrounds. The county is installing new parking lots and sidewalks, upgrading irrigation lines and will plant hundreds of new trees.
